The circular transition calls for patient private capital

November 1, 2021

While commitments are being made at COP26 Glasgow. Rens Van Tilburg, Willem Schramade, Jacqueline Duiker and Philip Tan are calling attention to the funding gap to transition to a circular economy.

"The circular economy is crucial to achieving the Paris climate targets and will make the Netherlands less dependent on importing raw materials and products from other regions."
"Dutch financial institutions have expressed a desire to invest in the circular transition, but pension funds are lagging far behind."

Fortunately, people are working on solutions:

The Sustainable Finance Lab will examine the barriers confronting institutional investors and suggest tools for investing in the circular economy.

Polestar Capital is launching the Polestar Capital Circular Debt Fund, the pension fund for the retail sector. This fund will provide loans to innovative circular economy companies that would not be able to get their projects off the ground, or off the ground in time, without this loan.

For more information about this fund and investment options, please contact Daan van Kassel, CAIA (dvk@polestarcapital.nl).
